Costs of up to $22m in the stolen wages class action have been scrutinised by the FCA, with Mortimer CJ noting among other things that "Shine elected to plan what I consider was the most expensive way that the outreach and registration process and the book build could have been undertaken" - see McDonald v Commonwealth of Australia [2025] FCA 380
