Today the High Court is to hand down its decision in Qantas Airways Limited & Anor v Transport Workers Union of Australia. As this is a matter of “public interest, importance or complexity” a summary of the matter and decision was provided at the beginning of the FCAFC judgement. It has also been revealed that all current Justices are members of the ultra exclusive, invite only Chairman’s Lounge.
Ian Waller KC appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria. Link here to his chambers webpage. Jeremy Gans notes this leaves two remaining VSC Supreme Court vacancies, both on the Court of Appeal.
Formal ceremony to mark Beech-Jones J’s departure from NSWSC to High Court will be held on Thursday, 19 Oct 2023 at 9.15am in Banco Court (likely to be live streamed on NSWSC’s Youtube).
