Gobbo v State of Victoria (redacted) [2025] VSC 334 (13 June 2025)
Gobbo, Mokbel and the Cops - Gavin Silbert KC - Quadrant
In February of this year the following motion was moved in the Bar Council, the governing organ of the Victorian Bar:
The Victorian Bar calls on the Director of Public Prosecutions to submit the briefs of evidence and all relevant material against Nicola Gobbo and those members of Victoria Police identified by the special investigator and by Justice Fullerton as having committed criminal offences to an out of state director of public prosecutions for advice on whether sufficient evidence exists to warrant the institution of criminal prosecutions against them and the Victorian Bar release an immediate statement to that effect.
Inexplicably, and in complete abrogation of its long held public duty, the motion was defeated 13 to 6. Has the Victorian Bar now joined the Victorian government and Victoria Police in the most egregious cover up in Victorian legal history?
