“In my view it is appropriate and timely for a survey of the profession to be conducted to support a review of practical legal training (PLT) in New South Wales. This is in order to gather data to inform possible reforms or improvements to the way in which PLT is provided and the cost of PLT. Successful completion of PLT is, as you know, a prerequisite for admission to practice. Although the College of Law, at my urging, late last year announced a reduction in course fees, I remain concerned about the very considerable cost that is charged for PLT by various providers…”
